If a 1 5/16" or 1 1/4" socket fits your original 8 3/4" nut, you have a 29 spline pinion. Otherwise, your 8 3/4" has a 10 spline pinion.

Choose pinion nut and washer for Dana 60, Mopar 9 1/4", or Mopar 8 3/4" pinions.

Special considerations for Mopar 8 3/4"

  • If a 1 5/16" or 1 1/4" socket fits your original nut, you have a 29 spline pinion. DoctorDiff brand 10 spline 741 casting 3.55 and 3.23 gears also use a 29 spline pinion nut.  All 29 spline 489 casting gears and 29 spline 741 casting gears use a standard 29 spline pinion nut.
  • If a 1 1/8" socket fits your original nut, you have 10 spline pinion.  All 10 spline 742 casting gears and 10 spline 489 casting gears use a standard 10 spline pinion nut.
