Hydraulic brake boosters provide maximum assistance for brake systems. Because the unit runs off a power steering pump, it is not affected by engine vacuum.

DoctorDiff Mopar hydro-boost assembly includes -6AN banjo bolt fittings, 4-hole or 4-stud adapter and an adjustable push rod to fit A,B and E bodies. The unit bolts in place of a MANUAL brake master cylinder with no modification to the brake pedal or firewall plate. A 1 1/8" bore Mopar 2-bolt aluminum master cylinder is optional.

A hydraulic shop or a good auto parts store can assemble 3/8" rubber hydraulic lines to connect the hydro-boost to a stock (1200-1500 psi) Mopar Saginaw power steering pump with a brass tee in the return hose. I do not recommend the (round shaped) Federal pump.

Instructions:

  1. The optional firewall plate bolts in place of your original power brake firewall plate (B/E bodies only). A-body applications do not use a firewall plate.
  2. Next, screw 4 button head allen bolts and AN washers to the small plate with THREADED holes (B/E bodies only) and bolt it to the body of the hydro-boost with the large nut. The small, 4-HOLE plate without button head bolts is used only for A-body applications.
  3. Place the 3/8" thick spacer plate between the firewall and the 4-hole mounting plate, then tighten the 4 mounting nuts.
  4. Screw the eyelet and jamb nut onto the threaded rod and adjust as needed. Reuse your original pivot bolt.
  5. Two master cylinder push rod tip adjustment screws are also included. Use the shortest version and adjust it until it almost touches the base of the master cylinder piston at rest.
  6. Jack the vehicle up in front and turn the wheels lock to lock while adding fluid to the power steering pump until the level stabilizes in the reservoir, when the vehicle is NOT running. Start the engine and top the system off with fluid.
